climate legislation In NH

New Hampshire’s political landscape is one where climate action - at least in the form of bills - is unlikely. Climate deniers run the House Science, Technology, and Energy committee while Governor Ayotte already defunded renewable energy. We’re making sure our neighbors know how their representatives are voting and how bad this iteration of our New Hampshire legislature has been for our wallets, our rights, and our planet.

If you are a legislator who introduced a bill you would like us to be aware of please let us know. A message with information about the bill, how it helps our community, and when the hearing is would be helpful.

Where to watch for nh legislative updates

350NH Action doesn’t have lobbyists in the state house, but we have friends who are fighting for our wallets, our rights, and our planets every day. Here’s where we recommend you look for specific bills to advocate for during this legislative session.

American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) State House Watch posts weekly updates with key bills related to economic justice, immigrant rights, civil liberties, LGBTQ+ rights, and more. They organize for justice and equity and we trust their bill priorities.

NH Network for Environment, Energy, and Climate is a network of volunteers fostering clean, cost-effective energy investments and environmentally responsible policies, laws, and regulations to address pollution and climate change. They have a bill tracker for the legislative session that we support.

Clean Energy NH is an organization leading NH’s clean energy transition. They provide technical support, education, and coordination around the transition to clean energy. They track and advocate for bills in the legislature as well.

Here’s how to sign-in to support or oppose bills online:

  1. Go to bit.ly/nhhouse23 for bills in the House of Representatives or bit.ly/nhsenate23 for bills in the Senate.

  2. Fill out the information they ask for and select the date of the hearing on the calendar.

  3. Select the Committee (ex: House Science, Technology, and Energy) and the Bill Number.

  4. Select “Support” or “Oppose” for the bill, and write a few sentences for testimony (optional) and click “submit.”
