350NH Action Endorses Karishma Manzur for U.S. Senate

NEW HAMPSHIRE - Today, local climate justice organization 350NH Action endorses Karishma Manzur for Senate in the Democratic Primary election set for September 8th, 2026. As a scientist and grassroots activist, her campaign is running a people-first platform to get corporate money (including fossil fuel money) out of politics and to pass common sense policy that reduces costs while caring for our people and our planet.

“Billionaire interests control most of our policies right now and we need a candidate who will fight for the people,” said Rebecca Beaulieu, Executive Director of 350NH Action. “We have to get the interests of big oil, weapons manufacturers, and mega corporations out of our elections. That means electing candidates who reject corporate donations and who will fight for a political system that actually supports the needs of our communities.”

Manzur is running on a platform to ban big money in politics, lower the cost of living by taking on corporate greed, invest in workers’ rights, support quality public education, uphold human rights, defend health and environmental science, and protect our environment from polluters. When asked in 350NH Action’s endorsement questionnaire about how she would address the high cost of utilities, she wrote:

“I will work to lower electricity bills by supporting federal legislation and funding that expands affordable, sustainable energy sources in New Hampshire, including solar, wind, and improvements to existing hydroelectric facilities. I also support investments in energy efficiency programs, because the cheapest electricity is the energy we never have to produce or purchase. In addition, I will back efforts to modernize current “peaker plants” by converting them into cleaner energy generation and storage facilities that can help stabilize prices and improve reliability.

While a U.S. senator does not directly regulate utilities like Eversource, I strongly support the work of the New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission and the Office of the Consumer Advocate in holding utility companies accountable to ratepayers and ensuring transparency and fairness in rate decisions.”

Manzur proudly pledged to not take fossil fuel money, including from utility companies. She recently proposed two resolutions for the New Hampshire Democratic Party to ban campaign donations in primaries from corporate PACs and foreign interest lobbyists like the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).

“Karishma is out in our communities, listening to people and organizing to change the systems that are making the cost of living rise higher for everyday people,” said Chantelle Rioux, Organizing Director for 350NH Action. “She is running her campaign without national PAC influence and fighting for the changes people want to see in the Democratic party. It’s time we elect candidates who will listen to and learn from the people they serve, not just wealthy donors.”

350NH Action is a 501(c)4 organization whose mission is to win grassroots support for a just transition to renewable energy and an end to society’s dependence on fossil fuels. They are fighting for transformational systems change while supporting candidates for office who will support the transition off of fossil fuels and a people-first electricity system.
