CONCORD, NH - Last week, Governor Ayotte signed a budget that hurts our most vulnerable neighbors and disinvests in resources that benefit thousands of Granite Staters. 350NH Action, alongside thousands of residents, businesses, and organizations, petitioned Governor Ayotte and the NH legislature to fund a better budget that invests in the things our communities need to thrive. Instead we got a budget that pays out fossil fuels, private schools, and millionaire corporations at the expense of our environment, healthcare, energy, housing, and education.
“If Governor Ayotte or any of the Republican representatives in Concord actually spent time talking to their constituents about this budget, they would realize this is not what the majority of people want,” said Rebecca Beaulieu, Communications Director with 350NH Action. “People want our representatives to address high costs of living. Instead we are paying for tax cuts for the wealthy by cutting all the funding for clean energy, housing, and healthcare. This is not the future we deserve.”
We're underfunding and neglecting our environment, healthcare, education, housing, and essential services that we rely on. Our Representatives and Senators spent this legislative session telling us to shut up when we drove hours to give testimony at hearings, and ignoring the record number of residents who signed in to oppose bills that hurt us. This legislative session has not been in the service of Granite Staters. We deserve a better budget and a legislature that actually listens to their constituents.
